[#3] Quoted: View Quote Main reason I unfollowed him. He also annoys the shit out of me. I watched a video with him struggling for 10 minutes to remove the engine cover off an E90(3 series)BMW while he sat there crying about how BMW's are so difficult to work on. It literally takes 60 seconds to remove the fresh air cowl on those cars and THEN remove the engine cover. Entire process should take no more than 3 minutes with a regular ratchet. It was then I realized he was a goon and I have no idea how he's made it this far "repairing" cars. The more I watched him the more I realize he's a complete automotive hack and works out of a shed because there isn't a respectable shop that would hire that guy.

[#7] Quoted: What happened? Plus I don't buy US made Japanese cars. View Quote A LOT of the recalls and TSB's on the first gen Armada/Qx56 were due to assembly issues. Loose front drive axle bolts on the 4wd models, random threaded holes got filled with self tappers and components started falling off (rear lift gate motors would literally fall off into the quarter panels). I saw one that was burnt to the ground because the wiring to the drivers power seat switch was improperly routed and got pinched which shorted and turned it into a toaster and resulted in a TSB. Goofy shit like that, and it never got better.

[#9] Scotty has shitty clickbait titles and shitty advice.

[#12] Quoted: Isn't it amazing View Quote That clusterfuck was 100% vibrancy. Toyota had the same problem in the late 90's with automatic transmissions in the Camry, Avalon and Siennas. They shipped the parts over to be assembled here and they didn't bother to clean the casting flash or trash out of the transmission casings before they assembled them. The best case was the transmission got flushed and 2 shift solenoids got replaced. Worst case was your torque converter locked up. Everybody praises Toyota, but I worked there during the v6 head gasket nightmare, the transmission FAIL and the sludge campaign. Oh.. I almost forgot the deal where the Tacomas leaked water into the ECM because the factory spot welder was "dodgy".
[#13] I got a CSB. When I worked at Toyota we had a Sienna that the automatic side door would randomly work right. The field rep came into the shop and attempted to"adjust" the striker with a BFH and a block of wood. He "adjusted" the fuck out of it and set the airbags off.
[#14] I've had three Infiniti's - a G35, a G37s and now a Q50S RS. All of them have been rock solid and reliable. Shame that Nissan will probably axe the brand in the near future.
[#15] Quoted: View Quote One of my buddies works in a county fleet shop. One of his coworkers turned the restraints control module in a police car upside down while it was plugged in and set off every airbag in the car.

[#17] He is a great example of the one type of person that really irritates the hell out of me... someone whose confidence far outweighs their competence.
[#18] Quoted: View Quote Ain't that the truth
[#19] Quoted: @stockshift Yep sure do, I just changed the plugs this morning to E3s LoL That engine cover looks nice!!! View Quote Thanks. My VQ is about 50k miles from the next plug change but if I get there I'll use the Densos. I'm lazy. I don't see myself getting rid of my G37 .... unless I trade it in on a GTR.

[#21] Quoted: View Quote I love South Main Auto.
[#22] I miss my g37s. For some stupid reason they didn't put an LSD in the q50.
[#23] Quoted: LoL I never watched his stuff Now you know who is a goober I respect is Tavarish His wrenching skills aren't really that great along with his spatial reasoning skills, aka not being very good at stuff like geometry or calculus But he knows when to call in help and he fixes cool View Quote If you knew him back in the Jalopnik days and even before then on the altima/maxima forums you wouldn't like him.
[#24] Quoted: View Quote
[#25] Quoted: That's not surprising given the stories I heard about the work culture there View Quote If diversity hiring was a car factory.
[#26] There aren't many Youtube personalities that I absolutely hate. Scotty is a dude that I absolutely cannot fucking stand. I would rather dive into something with no clue if it means avoiding his videos. I would rather beat my dick with a meat tenderizer if it meant he would no longer post on Youtube.

[#38] A Scotty thread and this wasn't on the 1st page You guys are slipping
[#40] I'm waiting for Scotty to recommend buying a car without an engine. You know because engines can be expensive to repair and a car is still a car without an engine.

[#42] That guy has to be an actor or is mentally handicapped.
[#44] My fellow mechanics and I should send a fuck ton of questions to him on cars that are being a bitch to fix.
[#46] Quoted: View Quote He was your stereotypical cheap ass mechanic that got people's 20 year old 240k mile shit boxes fixed for as cheap as possible (granted IMO those sorts of guy do fill a legitimate need ) But how he got a regular segment on a local news program that then snowballed into a 1m+ audience YouTube channel is beyond me
[#47] Quoted: View Quote A moron, soap, water and plugged DPF meet. Who wins? The idiot almost totaled the truck. When the idiot did a forced regen, the DPF quickly heated up, the small pores caused a flash of superheated steam....did I mention he pulled the DPF and cleaned it with soapy water? Luckily the guy wasn't near it when it came apart.
[#49] Been in this crap since 1974. Not going to pay attention to some "expert" in his driveway with a floor jack, some Harbor Freight tools and a falling down garage piled up with shit like a dump truck put it there - except for the entertainment value, and that got old fast. There's a bunch of "mechanics" like that in my former hometown. Most of them have monitors on their ankles and a heroin habit.
[#50] Quoted: View Quote ask him a bunch of questions about network diag
